About

I’m Keisha Armand, I live in a mid-century house in Berkeley, California with my partner Ryan and two cats, Ponzu and Fitz. I’ve been throwing pottery for three years, and Quiche Ceramics is the first full expression of my aesthetic sensibility. It’s thrilling and terrifying to share my work with the world for the first time.

Projects:

  • My work — “Quiche” is the nickname I use when I am speaking to myself with kindness, and the name I use for the ceramics I make. Quiche Ceramics is an expression of values that I’ve worked hard to cultivate: growth, connection, and curiosity. I hope when you slow down, pour yourself a cup of coffee, water a plant, or sit down to a homemade meal, you experience them as small expressions of kindness to yourself.

  • Fine-dining tableware — As a ceramicist, I was struck with some good luck: my brother is a chef. Together, Stefan and I have been working on a project to bring sustainable alternatives to traditionally resource-intensive crafts. He makes experimental dishes using every part of the fish, and foraging for local ingredients, with a drive to reduce food waste. He’s done so for famous restaurants across Canada and Australia, from Fish Butchery to Quay to Saveur to Pluvio and so many more. I make more sustainable ceramics designed specifically for his dishes by recycling, and recycling again, my clay and glazes. Our recent collaboration was a three piece set for the 2024/2025 San Pellegrino Young Chefs competition.

  • Teaching ceramics — I have a full-time day job working for a very special company expanding access to mental health care across the US, but once a week, I also teach ceramics at Hickory Clay in San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood. Lately, I’ve been teaching a class called In Pursuit of the Perfect Mug, but will be back with more topics in 2025!

Thank you for joining me on this little adventure.
